Kushano Sasanians, Ohrmazd (Hormizd) I Kushanshah. Circa AD 265-295. AE Unit.
14.13mm, 1.96gm. Bactrian mint?. Crowned bust to right, Tamgha behind / Half-length bust left arising from fire altar, holding filleted diadem and sceptre.
Cribb 22Var, Alram 1423Var, Mitchiner's A&CW 1280, Zeno#48442. About extremely fine (much better in hand). Very Rare type.
 
 
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling the old kushan lands in Bactria, the Kabul valley and Gandhara, as sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less independent, like this ruler, Hormazd I Kushanshah, ruling about AD 295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the Kabul valley.
